Default rack and pinion leak

Hello all,

I am new here and would like some help.

92 Dakota 2WD V6 power steering with rack and pinion.

It is leaking out of the boot so I assume there is a seal on that end of the rack that is bad.

Should I replace the rack, or replace the seals. I figured yall would know if there were problems with breaking down the rack and replacing the seal that would make it not worth while. I want to look at it as a labor vs parts price ratio.

Thanks

Default RE: rack and pinion leak

if it was me i'd replace the whole rack. i don't know if you could get just seals for it. also make sure all your lines are tight and no leaking and running down making it look like a boot.. Strange things can happen. i'm guess a rack won't be to cheap. its not hard to replace i'd say 1.5 hours. if that. also while you're there you might as well replace your tierod ends as the old ones off yours is going to have to be pulled off and put on the new\reman\used...
