Default diesel dakota ?

Were any Dakotas ever sold with a diesel engine? Has anyone put a diesel in a Dakota that you'll like to tell us about? Do the full size Rams with the cummins 6 cylinder diesel use the same transmissions as the gas V6 and V8 Rams? Would a 4 cylinder cummins bolt in?

no dakotas never came with a diesel. if they did I would probly have one right now.

one of my buddies put a 3.9 cummins in his jeep camanche. and that thing sounds so sweet. and since theres hardly any wires for them, its a pretty easy swap if you know what your doing.

Do the diesel Rams use the same trannies and bellhousings as the gas Rams? I was wondering if a 4 cylinder Cummins would bolt in place of a 6 cylinder Cummins. The 4 cylinder Cummins would be a nice engine in a Dakota.

Don't know. I would guess no.
IIRC, the automatic transmission for the Cummins has a 47RE or 48RE. (or RH in the older Rams)
The manual transmission for the Cummins is probably the NV4500 or NV5600.
But, I don't know for sure, keep that in mind.

And with the power a Cummins can put out, I definitly wouldn't put a V6 tranny behind a Cummins. A V8 tranny would be better, probably good enough for a stock I4 Cummins. Probably wouldn't be bad to modify the transmissions before you drop it in.
