Default '91 Dakota 3.9L - NO INTERIOR HEAT

I'm in Wisconsin and right now it's in the sub zero temps. I can't seem to get any heat inside the cab. I replaced the thermostat and the engine seems hot, but not on the gauge. I took out the fan completly to see what it would do and the engine heats up on the gauge, but then take it down the road and the gauge goes down again. I did however put a radiator in it over the fall season with the larger radiator from a 5.2L V8 model. But even with the fan off and the gauge saying it's hot/warm it doesn't seem to change what blows into the cab as it's cold. When I slide the heat control is sounds like the air shutter is closing. The heater core lines are both hot so I'm guessing it's circulating through the core as it should. So I really don't know.

Any ideas or answers would be great because it freaking cold!

Thanks in advance.

I would flush the heater core. it's amazing how much of a difference you get after it. look for the post at the top.

also try driving with cardboard infront of the radiatorand see if it gets any warmer. I think the V8 rad might have a bit to do with it, but you should still be getting heat.

Try checking the resistor on the firewall on pass side. It's right where a plug goes into the firewall, unbolt it and check for weak connections. this problem is commonly misdiagnosed and is so easy to fix. New one costs around 20 bucks or it can be fixed if your crafty.
