I bought my truck a few months ago with a non working gauge. Mine has 148k. I ordered a new sending unit paid around $50.00. I unbolted the 8 bed bolts, and unscrewed the gas neck and just proped the front of the bed up. I repaired it from the top, and it was so much easier It took me around 45 minutes start to finish by myself...... now it's good as new!

Yep mine does that too. If I stop or accelerate fast you can see the needle moving in motion with gas in the tank, but most of the time it reads empty.
