Finding old parts - dealership?
I'm going to buy a 1989 Dakota Convertible. Am I going to have any problems finding original parts? Worst case scenario, can I get brand new original parts from the dealership? Do they still carry parts from 1989?
What about the special 1989 Shelby Dakota parts? Will a dealership be able to order such old Shelby parts such as the wheels, steering wheel, and bench seat with insert?
I came across http://www.dodgeparts.com, which claim they sell all these parts, but are they really available?? Does anyone know how to get the pictures/diagrams to show? I think it's odd they offer pictures for most their parts, but I can't view them.

Probably your best bet with that site is just to call them. That is if you can understand them. If not you should be able to go back to the dealership but be careful as the dealership will always mark things up 10 times as high as they need to be. If nothing else you may want to call around to local junk yards. There is bound to be some Dakotas out there.
i have an 89 dak convertible, you can get the roof covering off ebay, but all the gasketing and hardware for the roof is unavailable. the stripe kits are also a no go, but all the mechanical parts that a regular 89 has are pretty much out there. the stuff special to the conv like the doors, the trim on the doors(inside and out), the internal rollbars, and anything to do with the roof isnt found easily. there is a slow moving forum for these. the gasketing is something youwant to pay special atention to, the hardware for the roof could be duplicated if something wears out.http://pub13.bravenet.com/forum/1111027943/
