Anyone know what other v8 318 engines will fit in my 1991 Dakota 4X4 LE longbed ??? I have a Throttle Body sytle v8 318 5.2 liter. with about 240,000 +/- miles on it.
Would it be a total mistake to try and fit a (or any ) dodge NON Dakota Carb..ed 318 or should I hold out for the exact year and ect... ect... for my badly missed truck? I do not want to be drawn into a complete mightmare and am aprehensive about a Carb. type due to the SBEC controls,effects,"what it all may do"on the factory version.

I have been getting very mixed answers locally about my dilemma. I can't afford a Jasper rebuild but need to get my truck back on the road again . I simply don't have time to rebuild an engine THEN put it into my dormant pick up.

Any help on some guideance as to what to look for and what to AVOID would be greatly needed and humbly accepted..Thank you in advance.

Needing a replacement v8 318 TB 4x4 guide. for my 91' Dakota

 

I would get a motor outta a junk yard, then put it in. and any magnum 318 will fit.

 

it has to be a 91 or older TBI engine to fit without problems magnum engines WILL NOT FIT without a hassle with fuel pump,computer,wiring,etc

I thought they switched to magnum engines in 91 when they remodled the dak a lil bit.

 

The Dakota got the magnum in 92 when they moved the rad cradle forward. But the magnum was put in full size trucks and vans in 91. But the blocks are the same.Just check if the intake bolt are at the same angle and you will know if they will interchange.

 

tbi intakes wont bolt onto magnum heads!!
