I have a 95 Dakota witha mildly built 5.2. Here lately it has begun to backfire and seems to be low on power. It feels as though it is starving for fuel. I checked the coil amd have no problem there. My fuel gauge works whenever it gets a notion to. Could it be a short in the fuel pump? Has anyone had this happen to them. I found that the EGR catalyst sensor had a hole burned in it and replaced it with the EGR but it didn't solve the problem. I need some expert advise.
Timing is fine. I thought the same thing at first with the different cam but timing is okay. I have read ALOT of fuel pump problems in this forum and have just about decided to just change mine.
Problem seems to be solved. New fuel pump. Old fuel pump was catching on rails. This site doesn't seem to have anyone willing to help in it. I guess next time I will have to go to another site.
