Default Electric Fan Swap

I have a 1993 Dakota V8 4X4 Auto. I want to do an electric fan swap and want to know how powerful of a fan I need to keep the engine cool. Please any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I used a stock chevy HHR fan on mine and haven't had any problems with it cooling. I used a adjustable fan controller. But I will warn you now it was a major PITA to install.

i used a dual fan setup out of a 90's nissan maxima. fit over the rad perfectly. i just had to drill two holes and wire up. ran good and kept the truck cool till one of the fans seized up but even with just one fan going it still kept the truck cool.

as far as instalation its easier to install with the rad out of the truck

What caused me the most trouble was the threaded shaft on water pump for fan clutch. You onl have 3 inches between the end of it and the face of the radiator. There has been several people cut the shaft off to make it easier. I would have cut mine off but didn't have anything to do it at the time.

There is a great chart which I can not find on CFM needed per engine size. But a quick general rule I quickly found is:
1,250 CFM for a 4-cylinder
2,000 CFM for a 6-cylinder
3,500 CFM for a 8-cylinder

I went through lots of electric fan setups, currently I got a Ford Taurus fan which is suppose to put out on Low 2500CFM and on High 4500CFM. It works good but on the 100 + with AC on it can start to get a little high. I don't want to know what it would be like while towing a very heavy load in this high heat, I don't think it would adequate.

Here is a quick chart of what size fans per vehicle application.

Hey Thanks guys sorry for the late responce got logged out and forgot my password and couldnt get back in for a while cause my email wouldn't open.

So would it be better to get dual fans from like a V6 van or something that fit. I would think they would cool the motor better that dual fans off of a I4 sedan right?

More fans will cool the engine. The ones that have been posted are the ones that are being used and are known to work. With any fan your going to have to modify the brackets. If you have a fan already try to find out how many cfm's its pulling and compare to crazy4x4 chart.

Lincoln or Crown Vic fan will work
I tow and have looked at this six ways from Sunday
I have
High temp 195 degree fan clutch from the service bulletin
9 blade fan from service bulletin
two pusher fans from BMW or something wired to temp, trans temp, and AC but with trans based cut off at 28 mph
even with these two electric fans clutch fan still comes on under some high heat times- slow towing, stop and go with AC on
so I am not comfortable deleting mechanical fan
AC works better with aux electric fans
Just towed through California Central valley 107 degrees
over one hundred at grapevine hill
I have a 73 Chry Imperial radiator, an AC Condenser out of a dual air maxi-van and a 100 plate oil cooler with 1/2 in lines and an oil cooler
I left the AC on up the hill
