Default @robertmee

The tranny came with the truck when I bought it. I can't remember where he bought it from but I put all new oil through it and flushed it out

How did you flush it? Did you actually remove the valve body and soak it? If the passages are gunked up with old varnished fluid, then simply running new fluid through it isn't going to do much. Not saying that's your problem, but for any transmission that's been sitting, that's the first place I'd look.

For an unknown transmission, I'd:

Drop the valve body and flush it all out
Install a Trans-go or similar shift kit
Inspect or replace the servos
Test the OD and lockup solenoids while VB is off
Install new Filter
Fill with new fluid
Adjust the bands per the Factory Service Manual
Adjust the Throttle cable/kickdown linkage per the Factory Service Manual

That will eliminate most common issues...if you still have clunking or erratic behavior after that, then either the transmission pump is going out and your not building good pressure, or the clutches/frictions or other internal parts need to be serviced by someone who can rebuild a transmission.
