Bypassing '98 D Compressor
I'm stationed in Guam and recently had to replace the engine in my 1998 Durango SLT 5.2 L (had it shipped from the states). I've had it back for 2 days and now the a/c is out- probably a bad compressor but for sure the a/c clutch pulley is shot. Afterreplacing the motor our finances are non-existent so I've decided to endure the heat and bypass the a/c altogether. I saw a thread discussing alternate serpentine belts for the 5.9 L so my question is does anyone have a part # for a shorter serp belt, that bypasses the compressor, for my vehicle?
I've taken off the old serp belt and measured it with a string (82.5 inches) but didn't have anyone to put slack on the tensioner pulley and am guessing that i'll need something in the range of 80-81 inch circumfrence but I'd hate to make a guess and waste the money on a seriously overpriced on-island belt.
Any help from someone who's delt with this or knows the answer would be greatly appreciated!
