Default fuel injectors question

hi all,

got engine codes for malfunctioning fuel injectors. i picked up some new injectors on ebay. got them today and had just removed the old injectors (siemens #53030842). I took a look and compared the two and they look the same, EXCEPT, the new injectors is (siemens #04854181).

Can I install the newinjectors on my D? 2K D 4.7 123,000 relativly strong.

thanks for helping.

To the best of my knowledge the 53030842 is for the 4.7L Dodge engine and the 4854181 is for the 5.2L Dodge engine. Therefore, there has to be some difference, such as how much they can flow per hour or some other reason for the separate part. So I personally would get the 53030842 injectors just to be 100% sure.

Thanks for the response DonSM99D, I really appreciate it. I didn't think anyone was going to answer this since I just threw out the part #.

I did a little research and you are correct, the applicationis used for the the 5.2l. I also found that it is used on 4.7l engines towing trailors too. The original fuelinjectors (53030842) are 22lb and the new ones are 40lb so, I figured I would install them because they fit. They seem to be performing well so far.

They should work just fine. I would put a true cold air intake on your rig with the new injectors. This will sure give you a great boost.

Dunno in a Dakota v6, I wouldn't want to give you the wrong approach thats works for our Durangos and not yours. I suggest asking about it in the Daktoa section. Mine on the D come off Easy and it's a no brainer so if you have issues, it has to be different.

well if uv got the 5.2 or the 5.9 they are the same as the 3.9 (supposedly with the addition of extra cylinders) so they should come off the same, im just looking for an idea to start from i understand that it will be different for every engine, and no one seemed to know in the dakota forum cause i checked there first

Ditto, it really isn't all that. Find the bolts, lossen the fuel rails and then lift it up and take off the injector. The first one will spurt fuel due to the pressure, then that's it. Be careful with the red bails on the electrical contacts. They are weakened due to heat over the years.

Thanks for the all the reply answers. It has been a week and just came back from yosemite and it is running great...with a feel of a little more power.

When removing the fuel filters, you should remove gas cap and start up the car to remove most of the pressure in the fuel lines, then turn off the motor and disconnect neg bat. Oh...one shouldn't smoke a cigarrette when messing with the fuel lines, my friend lost his mustache with a small fuel spurt to the face.
