Blower motor resistor pack
Sitting in the Durango eating lunch and I loose all fan speeds but high, Simple fix, blower resisitor, typical dodge. So I stop by the dealer and pick one up 12.00 bucks. I know the guys there so i just unplugged the old one and layed the new on in the floor, plugged it in and worked fine. Didnt bother to bolt the new one in and headed home. Bout 15 minutes later, the new one goes bunko and leaves me with high only. Is it cooled by being bolted into the suitcase, so leaving it out and just laying the floor overheated it? Maybe a blower switch problem shorting it and killing it, or just a bad one outta the gate?

i know that being bolted in does provide cooling, idk if it would have fried it that fast, but it is possible, and it is also possible that it was just bad out of the box, and i have also heard of the plugs that they go into going bad and people having to replace them, i think someone on here had to do that not too long ago try to do a search for it . . .
Anyone have a spec on what kinda resistance the fan should have. Ive got another resistor pack coming for in the morning but would like to know how much is too much resistance across the terminals of the fan before I smoke the next resistor. I didnt check to see if the resistor was hot when it quit[sm=headbang.gif]
simple question why do u think they put the resistor inside the box next to the fan??? hummm air flow why would they do a stupid thing like that COST a cheap resistor does not have all the stuff like fins and made of heat conductive metal to get rid of all of the heat that a 40 amp fuse is supplying to the resistor. Answer yes install the resistor into the box b4 u run it again. If the resistor blows in the next 6 months then worry about a fan motor.
