Default tps and the tranny

ok need a tranny tech here...i was told that the tps somewhat tells the tranny how to act. my 2000 5.2 durango slips when up shifting and slips with hard down shifting. moderate downshifting is fine also if i accelerate a littile harder then normal it up shifts fine. and it always acts the same, had the tranny flushed and refilled (of course) and replaced the tps...also it has a crap load of miles 137k to be exact, paid 5k though...time for a new tranny or is it a sensor problem?

I think it is more of a speed sensor rather than a tps sensor that governs the transmission. TPS usually governs how the engine idles and is part of the cruise control as well. If the speed sensor replacement does not work, you may want to check the governor and the actuator switches on the tranny. Mine went out and made my tranny go limp mode!

I think you can get the speed sensor from some big nationwide parts stores. Check Autozone, I had no luck with NAPA. I think someone said the sensor ran around 2x.xx bucks. The sensor should be located near the end of the transmission problaby toward the top. You should see a electrical wiring harness attached to it.
