Default 1999 SLT shutting down without warning

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and from the other sites I've seen, I'm sure this issue has come up here before but I couldn't find one so I'm putting the question out and hoping someone can help. I purchased my Durango about 2 weeks ago. The day after I bought it, it shut down on a major highway. It says "nobus" in the odometer. I heard that it could be the computer but from the posts that I've seen, people bring it to their dealership and they are unable to figure it out so they just start replacing things. We had to borrow money to buy this truck and really can't afford expensive repairs. If anyone else has had this happen and was able to fix it, can you please let me know what did it. I would really appriciate any help.

Thanks!!!

Where did you buy the D from because they should be taking care of this isssue immediately, the only thing I can think of is the PCM but there are a few other things that could cause it I just can't remember them off of the top of my head. Take that thing back and get it fixed or get your maney back.

Welcome Ekwilliams72;

I had the same problem with my 99 Durango 5.9L early this year. It went on for months with much frustration - not to mention danger! A new PCM did the trick. Note: these are under warranty from Dodge for 8yr/80K mi (something Dodge won't tell you). My problem started at about 78K mi but didn't get fixed until slightly over the 80K mark. It's abotu an $800/900 item, the local dealre changed it for me for $100 deductable.

Get it to a dealer and force the issue. Hopefully they'll do the right thing! Good Luck.

Either a bad/failing PCM (the computer) or a loose connection to the PCM. Simply one or the other so the dealer should be able to go right at fixing it. Either one, needs fixed ASAP because NOBUS = No power, no running, no nothing.
