Default ABS or not !!??

I have a 2002 Durango thats seems to have a faulty ABS Controller and I'm trying to decide if i should get it fixed or not I bought the Car from someone used about 9 month ago and i guess the ABS hasn't worked the entire time since i've had it. The Guy supposibly had it fixed before we got it, at least so he told us, what he really did was breaking the lights on the ABS and Brake warning light (gauge)so I wouldn't know that the ABS was still broken. My Husband fixed the lights on the instrument panel and the ABS light is still on and blinking and on top of it it keeps chiming too[:@] he replaced the rear wheel sensor which took care of the brake light but didn't fix the problem, he checked the front sensor and that seems fine as well. We took it in and had a ABS Diagnostic run on it and code 81 and 83 came out which is something about abs teeth factor out of range, we were told we would need a new ABS Controller which is of course a dealer part and therefore quiet spendy, now i'm debatting if i should just leave the Car without ABS since i read that Rear Wheel ABS is pretty much only good for towing which i don't plan on doing anyhow...... i would appreciate some input from the Pros here

If they are sure it is the ABS controller, you could try the junk yard. Be much more cost effective!!
