2000 Durango shuttering problem
I recently purchased a 2000 durango slt with the 5.9L v8. It seems to have a shifting or shuttering problem. When driving at highway speeds it seems to shutter around 1800-2000 rpm just before downshifting. I have no idea what it could be. If you let off the gas a bit or give it more gas it will stop shuttering. I notice no other issues when this happens. The trans. doesn't seem to slip or anything. I hope this makes sense. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be??

RE: 2000 Durango shuttering problem
I just fixed (I hope) a similar problem. When cruising on the highway or back roads, the truck would start to shutter when it wanted to downshift. It only did it when giving it a light load. When I hammered the throttle, it would shift fine but a light throttle would re-create the problem. I brought it to dodge and they found a voltage fault in the transmission governor pressure sensor and the pressure sensor solenoid. The two parts cost about 200 bucks from the stealership and I also did a filter/fluid/gasket change as well and as of 24 hours ago, the problem seems to have been fixed.
It might be worth brining it to the dealership and tell them to only spend maximum of 1 or 2 hours on it to diagnose. I paid about 120 bucks for diagnosing this problem plus a few more non relatedand it paid off because I was about to drop 500 bucks on an ECU and other stuff that wouldn't have evenfixed anything.
