so for the past couple of weeks this small black crap has been coming out of the air vents in my Durango. What is it? Is that bad?
Whats up with that?

 

Same thing happened maybe two years ago with mine. Appears to be small pieces of foam material, similar to material used for filters and around the joints where they join the A/C ducts and tubing under the dash. It stopped on mine and I hadn't really thought about again until I saw your post. I think its just the foam material breaking down from age. Now if its some type of inlet air filter its a problem because the coils will overtime become full of dust, and theres no filtering of the air. If its the foam used to join the vents or tubes its a problem since your air may be leaking around the joints and going into your innerdash area instead of out through the vents.
But like I mentioned, I had forgotten about this on mine so its probably not a major issue.

 

+1 on the foam and the age. Probably nothing to worry about.
