Durango popping noise when turning in reverse...Help!
I have a 1998 Durango 4x4, & just recenty when I back-up & turn left, there is a popping noise which I can hear & feel in the front right side somewhere...It is definitely a metal popping sound, & it does not do it when I am reversing & turning right. This popping does not occur when I turn in either direction while going forward. It seems to be coming from the right front wheel/axel area & is getting worse.
Anybody have any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks a million for your input, I really appreciate it!

This happen to me yesterday [:@]sounds very painful. Have had your outer CV boot checked as it has probably failed. I have gone through 2 of them in one month left and right.[]http://www.geraldstires.com/Services/CV/cvjoints.htm The weblink provides a noise you might near it's going bad and an explanation of the noise. Mines was terrible yesterday sounded like a terrible grinding and yes only when I turne left.[X(]
Good luck, just got my mine done! And she is as good as new.
Please provide an update, if possible.

Have your ball joints checked. If you take your truck into a shop for a 4 wheel alignment they will show you if it has a problem before they alignment and charge you. Then you can take it home and fix it or have them do it for you. This will also show you other multiple problems that might be doing this to as well.

Hey thanks JRango & Hydra,
It is not actually a clicking sound like the link you provided described, but rather a single loud popping noise, like a joint is popping in and out of place.
Thanks again, your input is very much appreciated!

It could be either the cv shaft or a ball joint as stated, I am leaning on the side of cv shaft though. I would definitely take it for an alignment as Hydra stated, Firestone won't charge you a Dime unless they do the alignment. They have to inspect those things first though and will tell you what your problem is.
