Default Rear Window Defogger/icer trouble

The rear window defogger on my D has a few lines that do not work. When I went back and looked closely I can see the flat copper colored wires that sit on the window surface are broken. I was thinking I could just put a drop of solder on them to restore their connection and get them working again, but I am concerned that might crack the glass from the heat.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?
