I have been thinking of doing a motor swap to diesel using a cummings first thing out of everyones mouth is there to heavy i think it would work I cant seem to find any 1st gen deisels or any conversions would like to find a wrecked ram or something th reasone for this is bi diesle 70 cents a gallon

I'm sure you could make it work if you threw enough time and money at it, I just don't see it being worth it if you are only doing it to save gas. The amount of money it would take would far outweigh the gas savings beyond the D's life, even with a diesel in it.

no the motor in it has 165000 on it and i whant to do it just to do it and be differnt ya know

The engine would put a lot of stress on the D, I would do a SAS, regear, and see how much hacking it would take to make that sucker fit. You did mean the 5.9 CTD right?

Yep turbo oh ya lol love the sound of a turbo may sell it and bye one that has a bad tranny or motor and start a new project maybe even a solid axle swap

I've bottomed out in my 5.9 so I can't imagine installing a diesel v10. RAM's, I beileve have coil over shocks to compensate for the added weight. IMO too expensive a project only to see failure. Your whole electrical system would have to be re-done.

Gess i should have re worded thet not a v10 i meant enyone ever seen a d with a viper v10 or a 1 gen diesel from what i hear a diesel is about 300 pounds more then a 360? If i do it i will be buying a wrecked or salvadge truck to get complete wiring and all

sounds like more work than it's worth. Wouldn't the computer need some sort of reprogramming also?

you couldnt use the stock comp have to use the desile comp

The engine is LONG, just make sure you could make it fit without it sitting in your lap, it is an inline 6.
