I haven't heard of that one before. I don’t advise this conversion because your Vin# will come up a 4X4. This will surly give you problems down the road. I did do a extensive search on this topic with no info.

myns:

What is your reason for this conversion?? If you are after fuel economy you won't gain enough to make it worth the cost and trouble. Besides possible electronics issues, you would have to have the longer 2wd driveshaft as well as a different tail section for your transmission.

I think the vehicles value would take a hit as well since folks might wonder if it had been totaled or rebuilt from salvage.

You can not do that If you whant to go to a 2 wd you will have to go to a 2wd tranny 4wd tranny do not have a tail shaft on them for a drive shaft to slide in to and if you take out the t case all your fluid will run out

thanks for ur all ur help! the tail end of the tranny being differnent is the answer i was looking for, (to help u understand what i was trying to accomplish). i have over 100 thousand into the truck it has a built motor and a full built tranny i have hydrolics on the truck and i am trying to get the most lift out of my rear end i have already removed the c.v shafts and am just trying to get rid of the rest of it as easy as possible . by removing the transfer it would make the distance between the tranny and the axle bigger reducing the angle on the u joints i will be running a slip yoke drive shaft .
with that in mind it will remain in untill i have trouble with the tranny thanks again its the only part of the truck i havent had apart
thanks
