Just wanted to share info. Apparently it is common for the center console lid latch to break, causing the lid to pop open. Got a kit for $12 at the dealer, easy to install.

sorry, I would have listed the part number if I knew it. But the parts guy at your Dodge dealer will know what you're talking about, since the kit is actually a redesigned part, due to common failure.

179,000 miles here, no console problems. A regular on the top 4 D sites, not a common topic.

Happened to me... I went around with a water bottle wedged between the drivers seat and the console to keep it shut for damn near a year []. I finally got it fixed by the dealer. This was back when it was still under the original 3yr/36k warranty. So, it snapped before my truck was even 2yrs old.
I was told that it was a common problem too.
Perhaps people don't post on here about it because it's easy to see what's wrong no guessing game there and you just have to call the parts dept. to get it fixed . My entire lid was actually replaced, so it must have been before the quick fix was thought of.

Old thread but I am looking for the kit mentioned in this post. The stem on my 02 Durango center console lid is broke. Dealer wants $60 for the plastic in lay that includes the stem. Heard a few different places that there is a kit but the dealers don't seem to know anything about it. If someone has a part number or a brand name for the kit that would help a lot, thanks!!
