Default diameter size of dowel for remote control compartment

I decided I want my garage opener inside the remote compartment that is in located on the overhead console. I saw alot of round openings there that I can simply buy a wooden dowl that I can cut to fit to operate my garage opener but I do not know the size of the round hole to properly fit the wooden dowel. Or am I approaching this all wrong.

I bought my D used so I did not receive anything that can make my garage opener work in that compartment. Currently have the garage opener clipped to my visor.

Mine have lego like pieces in there in order to push the button by just pushing up on the door for the opener. You may want to see if actual legos would work. It will be close and if you have kids then you won't even have to leave to get your parts.

Now that you mention it, I did not think of all those hole patterns to resemble something like legos! My son is a lego nut so I hope he has a lego in his pile that will snap on!

Thanks!
