Default How many miles??

1998 Durango. Ithas 192k on it, the only real work i have had to have done to it is the driver side wheel bearing. Im thinking the tranny is about to go though. When you first take off after it sits and cools off it doesnt want to shift out of first gear, it revs really high and then shifts really hard, i usually take my foot off the gas and coast hoping that it will shift easier. Anyway, How many more miles you think i put on that baby before the tranny takes a CRAP!!

I'd check the trans dipstick first to determine if it has enough oil. If you're lucky it's just low on oil. Read the dipstick and it should tell you if this needs to be done in park or neutral, also be sure the vehicle is on flat ground and let it warm up as you'll get a false reading if the vehicle isn't at normal operating temperature.

I had the same problem after a trans service and found I was 3quarts low because they didn't take the time to warm my vehicle up and top it off, damn lazy mechanics, I added oil to the correct level and have'nt had a problem since. Also Dodge uses ATF+4 so be sure not to put anything but ATF+4 in the trans.

It may be possible it could be the governor actuator switches.
