Durango vs Dakota Suspension

Durango vs Dakota Suspension
I have a 99 Durango 4x4. As we all know D's have a bumpy/hard ride. My friend has Dakota, same year and also 4x4. The suspension on his is a lot softer and smoother. I noticed it has struts and coils. Everything looks identical to the suspension my Durango has. I'm not much of an off road guy just the occasional jump the curb, ride on grass, and the forest like street of Chicago with all the potholes and patches.
My question is can I transfer or install the A-arms of Dakota to my Durango so I can get the same type of ride the Dakota has? The alternative idea is installin a lift that requires shocks and springs or air bags, which can give it a smoother ride. Also what type of calliper, rotor, brakes upgrade can I install? Is there a good kit out there that I can purchase?
Can anyone help me with this? Any insite will be appreciated very much, especially from my wife who hates my Durango...
Thanks

RE: Durango vs Dakota Suspension
the 4x4 dakota does not have coil springs on it, only the 4x2, (we have owned both and a durango) and the dakota, if i had to guess has softer shocks on it making for a smoother ride, this is very likely especially if you just replaced your shocks that they need time to wear down for a smooth ride
our durango vs dakota the ride is very much the same, probably not identical, but very similar

Pretty much you should just go out and get some softer shocks. A lot of us go with stiffer ones for better handling so other than that I have no sound advice on the type of shock you should choose other than a high end Rancho (I can't even remember the model #) and those are adjustable depending on what you like.
