Default Rear Left Brake Light Help!

Hey everyone! Awesome Forum.

So hey, this is my problem, I have a 98 Durango 5.2L SLT. My left brake light is not working. My Tail lights, turn signals, and reverse lights are all functioning fine. I took the bulb out and put my meter to the connections, and am getting 12V. But when I tried hooking up a seperate light to the connection (by just touching the wires to the connectors), It does not light up. I can then touch the positive to where the tail light connector is and the light will light up. I am not really sure what to do. I have changed the bulb, switched out the lense, all that. Short of taking it all apart and tracing wires, Im stumpped.

What I don't get is that there is actually 12V going to the connector when the petal is pushed. I'm thinkin maybe a ground, but other than that i have no clue where to look at all. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO any help or advice is appericated.

Thanks in Advance everyone!

You will just have to use a voltmeter to trace starting from the light socket all the way as far as you can go on where the other end of the wire is.
