New Durango Owner!
Hey everyone!
I'm a new Durangoowner! I just sold my 2000 Explorer because Iwas needingsomething that can tow more than the Ex could.
I have started my own stump grinding business part time on the sideand the grinder and trailer and tools, etc weigh about 2,500 lbs, but I hope to soon have the next size bigger grinder which weighs 4,400 lbs without the trailer so something stronger than the Explorer was necessary. I ultimately want a truck but the budget won't allow for that just yet.
I work at a used car dealership (www.rvrchase.com) and we actually had the Durango here so it worked out to be almost an even swap. I ended up with a 2000 SLT with the 360 and the 3.55:1 rear end with only 85,000 basically for $5,000. It's super clean and drives great. The only thing it needs right away is a new a/c compressor.
I will be changing all fluids/filters in the next month or so as long as saving up for a different ring/pinion set (maybe 4.1:1?) along with a few other goodies.
I've been lurking on here for a couple of months and have already learned some about the D and the 360.
Hope to be around for a while and learn a bunch!
Tell me what you think of the pictures:

You got a great deal! Not too many 2WD 5.9 owners out there. Being 2WD, I bet it can really move. Since you are going to tune it up and have all its fluids change, you may need to check to see if some of the commonly gone bad sensors have been replaced on the 2000 D. Sensors are:
Throttle Position sensor
Rear Output sensor on rear axle
Speed sensor on transmission
Judging by the pic, it looks like this D still has the factory battery. So be on the lookout for your D to have wierd engine idling/running issues if your battery is nearly depleted.
Other than that, welcome to the forums.
P.S., BTW, what is that hanging off the dash and on the center console? XM/sirrius Satelite radio?

Rear Output sensor on rear axle

Did anybody else notice just how clean the frame and sway bar are?? Wow your dealership does a good job detailing.

BUT, it's really an easy trick. All you have to do is simple green everything under there that you can get to and then pressure wash it. But that's not the trick. The trick is to then take cheap Wal-Mart rattle can paint and paint everything black. Cheap, easy and looks good. You can even take the wheels off and spray the rotorsand calipers to make them look great too.

Well, I'm slowly getting everything fixed up. I've hard buffed/polished/waxed the front (hood, bumper, front fenders), replaced the plugs (autolite 3923, got to love em at $1.48 each), flushed the heater core and some of the engine coolant (very nasty looking), flushed the power steering res about 3 times now, flushed the brake res a few times also (will bleed the brakes soon), and installed a Edelbrock round 14x3 chrome intake on top of the engine. Looks great and I love the sound.
