Didn't want to start another post with the same questions so, I'd thought I'd bump this one.

I have a 2002 SLT 5.9L (AWD/4WD) Durango with 73k miles. Durango was purchased about 3 years ago (18k) and, for year there it was still under warranty so, the dealership pretty much handled everything. Which was good because, at the time, I didn't have the ability to do my own routine maintenance or repairs.

But,nowI havea new home with a garage so, I'd like to get into servicing myDurango to the best of my ability.

I've never really done any vehicle maintenance besides checklevels, change the oil, and air filter. I've been searching through the forums and, have been trying to get a better understanding on, what I can do on my own, without going down to the local service center. Just like when I build computers, I'd like to make sure the best is going in my stuff and not just trusting someone else to do it for me.

With that said... I just wanted to confirm some recommendationsbefore I do my tune up tomorrow. Most likely will head over to AutoZone, Advance Auto, or Pep Boys to get my stuff.

Spark Plugs - Autolite 3923s ...(or Champion Truck Plug #4436 ? or Champion Iridium #9203 ?)... gap it at .040

Wire Set - MSD 8.5 Super Conductor Wire Set

Distributor Cap and Rotor - Not sure, what I should look for.Onlinestores above recommend cheap ones. From searching on here, I should stick with brass contacts and avoid the cheap metal contacts.I'd like to get a MSD cap since, I'm getting MSD wires. All 3 online stores above show MSD caps but, show them for GMs and Fords. Any ideas?

Anything else, I need to pick up or I can do (air/oil filter and oil have been changed)? I'm guessing my Durango is due for a lot things closing in on 75k. I know the last major tune ups and such, were done at 36k at the dealership. I'm not really sure, what was all done since, I can't find all my paperwork (still in boxes from the move).

I'm figuring, I'll need to have some flushes/services done too by a service center.

- Fuel Injectors cleaned
- Transmission serviced
- Power Steering System flushed
- Replace front and rear axle fluid
-Power Steering System flushed
-Radiator flushed
- Brake System flushed
-Replace transfer case fluid

Also, probably need to get the shocks replaced. I was told the originals last about 60k.

TIA for the help.

I had this issue for quite some time with my 01 Durango SLT. Finally, once the Idle Motor was replaced (after doing a tune up, checking all the wires, etc.) that seemed to do the trick.
