Default 98 with a transfercase leak

i am having a prob with my 98 durango. it is leaking between the transmittion and the transfercase. i am having a prob getting the last bolt out on the very top of the transfercase. any tips? also i had a guy tell me that a rebuild kit for my trans is like 900 dollars. that does not sound right. does anyone know what trans is in my durango. all i know about it is it is a automatic with the slipping second gear when its cold. thanks.

I am not sure about the t-case but if you have the 5.9 then you have the 42re and I am pretty sure the 5.2 was the 46re. I don't see a rebuild kit being $900 since most of the cost in rebuilding a tranny is labor but it might be that much.

a complete rebuild kit with convertor and solenoids fluids should run about 600-700 respectfully
