Default RE: Brake Replacement

hogwash... been doing it that way for years and never have had a problem. Some of the rides' I've put over 150k miles on them, did it that way each time and never had an issue. It's not like your packing a bearing or something, it's a small dab of grease... it's not exposed to any brake surface once it's re-assembled
Alright, I knopw i'm new here and I'm trying not to step on any toes, but just becuause an ill advised practice hasn't affected you negatively does not make it a good idea. Ted Nugent shoots .40 S&W out of his 10mm Glock 20 and has never had it malfunction dangerously, but the gun was not designed or approved for use with the shorter .40S&W cartridge, which is hanging on the extractor in a 10mm chamber instead of headspacing off the case mouth as intended. I spent 8 years in a brake shop and believe me, using petroleum grease on brake caliper bushings can and does cause them to swell and bind the slide pins. Different makes/models/years use different rubber/silicon compounds on these bushings and some are affected more than others, but silicon lube is compatible with all of them, so why take a chance?
