just changed the differential fluid
This is my wife's vehicle she only uses it to take the kids to school about a mile from the house. So we don't really put any hard miles or off-roading or nothing like that. If anything to go grocery shopping less than 3 miles from the house. I changed the differential fluid on the 2000 durango which we bought about a month ago. It had 124,000 miles and I paid $5,3000 cash for it. It did come with a 6 month warranty on the engine and transmission. The Durango looks preatty nice even if its only a 2 wheel drive and does not have leather seats. I've had second thoughts about the vehicle ever since I bought it. But like I said my wife wanted it. Since I do have warranty for 6 months. How should I treat the transmission and engine to make sure there is nothing wrong with them. As for the diff fluid. i installed a new chrome cover that I bought on ebay. I only used the cardboard gasket that came with it and it does not seem to be leaking. I bought a pump to pump the fluid in the differential. but it was overall a very simple task. I should add that this is the first truck that I've ever owned. I'm originally from chicago and have only driven sedans. I'm really looking forward to buying my very own truck and getting my hands dirty. Perhaps even a manual transmission. I cannot believe that Ive wasted so much of my life driving sedans!

your best bet for the tranny is to get an oversized tranny cooler and keep up on the service. the biggest killers for the AT's is the heat, so if you take the heat out, it'll last alot longer.
