i dont ever recall D-C offering the v6, i have never seen one with a 6 either, but yes they tend to be underpowered, especially if you have 4 wd(my experience is with the dak so it would be worse w/ the D)

if you read the history of the Durango (yes I'm that cool), you'll discover that the V6 was an option for the first year, but DC decided it was too underpowered.

ok well excuse me for not being cool enough to read the history of D-C in my free time, but i still have not seen one with a v6 only v8s so its almost as if they never offered a v6

I think there is one at school here, but I've never taken the time to check it out. It may just be a "sport" model. No fender flare, looks like 30" tires, and just looks verysmall. I'll crawl under it and get a beter look.

I don't remember where i found the info of the V6, but I'm sure it can be found on wikipedia.org

IIRC:

They made less than 100 V6 Durangos, only in 4x2. They were indeed very underpowered for a 4800 pound vehicle.

The 4.7 engine is really pretty peppy. the output HP/and TQ are very close to the 5.9. You will also see a few more mpg as a bonus. IMO there are only 3 reasons to choose the 5.9:

#1 is engine envy

#2 is the 5.9 has more aftermarket mods out there for it.

#3 is if you tow bigs loads or tow alot.

Other than that, the 4.7 is a great motor, and to be reckonedwith.
