2000 r/t durango need help timing
I have a 2000 durango r/t which i just did a tune up to by replacing the distributer, cap, rotor button, spark plug wires, plugs. I am having a hard time finding the timing mark indicator. If anyone could please help that would be great. Thanks
Harry:
It is possible that your D does not have one. On these newer cars, the timing is set by the computer, and is not user adjustable. Look for a small ring or hoop down beside the harmonic balancer. If you see one, this is where a magnetic sensor would be placed temporarily to check the timing.
Chances are, if you have not removed the distributor, you should not have to touch timing.

Well i actually put a new distributor in but last night i found the timing mark it just auto adjusts itsself. Also does anyone know i heard that the R/T durangos have an advanced timingchipcan anyone tell me if thats true or not.

Not 100% sure, but that would not surprise me. I am curious though as to what issues you were having to warrant replacement??
That is an unusual repair these days.

The 5.2 & 5.9l engines do require that you set base timing. Align the mark on the crank (on #1compression stroke) and then make sure the rotor is aligned with the mark on the distributor housing. The computer does everything else; no timing light is required.
