Brake light stays on ????
We have a 2000 D about 45Kmi. So, wife is coming to a stop and feels brake pedal pulsing , looks at dash and the ABS light and brake light are on. When she got home I topped off the brake fluid (wasn't badlow),disconnected / reconnectedthe battery, test drive, seems to stop fine. I felt nothing abnormal. Question is where do I start trouble shooting now before going to stealership??? Is this an issue for a code scanner??? Thanks!

if both are on you more than likely have a sensor failure, and uwill need to scan. I am not sure if turning the key on and off 3x's will show abs codes? u can try going to a autozone for the scan it's free but I don't reccomend buying their parts unless you want to replace them again in 6 months or less.
Argh, I took the D to Autozone and Advanced for scans, neither pulled a code. The information I gathered today from some ASE Masters is that Dodge has locked out the aftermarket from their ABS sensors, and related parts. Against the law !!!!!! The dealer is likely the only place that can pull a code (certain scanner) and the only ones that will service ABS. I can't even go to the dealershipto buy the part and install it myself !!!!!The brakes are working ok, guess I don't have the ABS. Anyone have an idea other than the dealership? Perhaps it is a just a relay or something I can R&R, thanks.
I have an '01 Durango, and the brakes felt a little odd, but I was not getting the ABS light, not yet. Turns out we just needed to adjust the rear brakes. Perhaps you could try that and see what happens. It won't cost you a dime to adjust them, and sometimes the simple things are the ones that give you the most problems.
Also, Ihad a nissan once that had a rubber piece between the pedal and the "switch" (the actually little pin type thingy--don't know the technical term for it) that sticks out behind the top of the pedal towards the dash and the firewall). It's the piece the pedal hits to turn the actual brake lights on. When mine broke it made my ABS light come on. At the risk of sounding redneck, we just put the rubber piece back together with duct tape and wedged it back in there. Problem solved.

Okay, im not telling you to go jump out and buy, but a possible solution to your problem could be the speed sensor. I dont know your abs system, or even code to begin with. Check the search, theres no use playing russian roulette with a system your unsure of if your afraid to go to the dealer.. Again its a possible solution, check out durango speed sensor on the web. The speed sensor is located atop the rear axle for RWABS. The rear sensors go, and its not uncommon.
I have taken it to 2 different brakes shops and they couldn't find a problem, The Brake and ABS lights only come on after you drive a few miles and the pedal is very hard and sometimes it pulsates when coming to a complete stop. I was trying to stay away from the dealer because I have an extended warranty and they recomend not taking it to a dealer because they will only pay a certain amount to fix stuff and dealers charge so much. I think I will try to change that abs sensor and hopefully that will fix the problem.
Thanks
