Default Radiator Fill cap tube/hose assembly

Well, I knew it would happen eventually. I kept looking at that stupid plastic radiator fill cap hose assembly and thinking that when I had to replace the hoses it was going to be a problem. I assume that many of you out there may have the same issue. Maybe its the 5.9 only, or all Durango's because of the hood styling, I don't know. Maybe there just isn't room for a traditional radiator cap on the radiator itself. So they placed it halfway along the top hose coming out of the thermostat housing on its way to the radiator. The hoses also have some funky plastic clamp that are not re-usable. I knew that trying to re-use the cap assy and putting hose clamps (even very gently tightend I might add) when I replaced the hoses wouldn't work, but I had to try! Sure enough about two miles later it started to leak, the plastic was broken. So off to the auto parts store where the clerk was able to locate a radiator cap pipe assemblymade of good old metal (aluminum)!Had to wait as it was special order part. Put it inand its great, so cheap of Dodge to use that plastic assembly, really poor engineering to save a $. Picture is of new AL pipe/cap assembly.

I'd like that exact part. Where did you get it, part number and costs? Thanks in advance!

I just bought a new one last week from Dodge. I wish I had known about this. It looks nothing like the one I bought. Please give us the details.

Now I have the 5.9L and I don't have a cap set up like that. I thought that was only the 4.7L that had that setup. Mine's right on the radiator. I like the setup though.

Hydra, all 5.9Ls AFTER 1999 have it on the hose. The '98/'99 has it on the other side with a completely different shroud, cap, etc. Has to do with the electric fan we have that you didn't as well as the overflow and washer fluid reservoir changes.

There are three different part # and sizes, which one is for 2003 4.7?. Looks sweet, any Jegs in te Indy area? Last area I know of for Jegs was in Columbus, OH of course that was in 96 but with internet I guess it is no big deal.
