I have a '98 Durango 4x4. Whenever it rains one of my rear breaks will lock up when i use the breaks for the first few times then it is fine. It always lets up when i let off the break and it only does it when it is wet. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

 

you might try cleaning and lube the backing plate and clean the brake dust out of the drums.

 

That was my only idea. I went through them all a couple weeks ago and cleaned them up and it didn't seem to help at all.

 

My daughter's '98 was doing exactly the same thing. We had ceramic pads put on in the spring and it got so it was as if the rears were holding better than the fronts. We changed to Wagner Quiet Power semi metallic front pads and cleaned up the rears. The pedal feels much better, it requires less pressure and stops straight and fast with no lock up.
