Default Transmittion slipping

I have a 1998 V8 5.2L durango , for the past couple of days my vehicle will not engage into the gears. When accelarating the engine speeds up but doesn't engage for a few minutes then it kicks forward when it does finally engage. This happens for all gears. I have no problem with it in the morning when it is cold, once it has warmed up, is when the problem starts. Any suggestions?

Most likely the governer pressure switch and solenoid in the transmission needs to be changed. It should trip a check engine light shortly.

It Happened to my 2001 SLT 5.9. The tech said that its a safty function of the trans . If the trans Oil overheats or theres no circultation it goes into a Limp mode. In my case it was clogged tran lines. In the end the whole trans was rebuilt at Aamco.
