CONSTANT 02 SENSORS BURN & CEL
hey there..
ive had the 02 sensors replaced four times and they keep burning out and causing the CEL to go on and exhaust smell to begin-my truck is a 2000 Durango SLT 4 x 4 with a 4.7 liter-is this a sign of a shot computer? my mechanic has checked every wire and connection and everything looks fine-any thoughts??

First off, fire the mechanic
Just going to throw up a few questions so bare with me.
what codes are you pulling?
Exhaust smell comming into the cab? Any dents, dings, crack or other unsightly issues on the cat? Plugged cats can create an issue at the exhaust manifold or up to cat where as back pressure finds its way out.
Did he test the sensors themselves before replacing??
check for vacuum leaks?
Check the intake for fluids? loosing a little oil/coolant?
Miles?

YES, I AGREE-HE'S REALLY PISSING ME OFF!! IT WAS PULLING A CODE FOR A SLOW MOVING CIRCUIT IN THE 02 SENSORS-YES HE CHECKED THE ORIGINAL SENSORS AND SAID THEY WERE BURNED OUT-THE CAT IS BRAND NEW SO I DONT THINK ITS THAT-HE ALSO CHECKED FOR LEAKS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM-THE TRUCK HAS 85K MILES ON IT AND THE ONLY REAL PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT IS THAT EVERY SUMMER WHEN ITS EXTREMELY HUMID OUT AND THE A/C IS CRANKING THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR GETS SOAKED WITH WATER-WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I dont want to scare you senseless but a continuation of an o2 problem can really take its toll on your vehicle as in a/f mixtures, detonation, and a whole bunch of fun stuff. I dont like making this suggestion often but seeing how your problem has returned numerous times and has been inspected, i'd suck it up and pay the fee of bringing it to a dealer.
-Just a heads up of the o2 system. Not yours, but it will let you understand the condition.

Now theres soaked, and theres damp... of course never factor out a core or a leaky window/trim seal, but more than likely if soaked/damp (waterbased) constant AC, it would be the the evaporator drain is plugging up. What happens after this is that the case will continue to fill with water until it finds a way out and that is usually at a seam in the case. Give it a look see.

I was on another dodge forum and this is what one guy said for this problem. For all owners of 2000 4.7 Durango. The cause of the o2 censor for constantly going out was from the power steering sensor. It would leak at the sensor down onto the o2 censor and cause it to malfunction. He recommended to replace the power steering sensor ($25 part) and that would solve the unsolvable mystery. I have a 5.9 so i don't think it applies to me. Hope this helps!
