Default Durango Issues

I have changed the following on my durango:
1. front crank seal
2. thermostat - twice
3. sway bar end links
4. ball joints
5. both rotors
6. rack and pinion unit
7. both rear speed sensors
8. timing cover gasket

I am waiting on my plenum gasket to go and for my transmission to mess up. My fog lights don't work and my brake and ABS lights are still on. All this and I only have 64000 miles on a 99 Durango.

I have to admit though...the engine runs good and hopfully it will for a long time.

Sounds like a lemon to me. Very few have had as many problems as you've had in such a short time. Good luck man!

It may be the light switch that is messed up on your fog lights. Your brakes, are they still in good shape even tho the indicator lights are still on? If so, you may try to reset your computer to turn off those brake/ABS lights.

I haven't messed with my fog lights too much. I do know it is not a fuse or the bulbs. I plan on putting a volt meter on it to check everything. As far as the brakes go...I have tried everything. The pads and shoes are in good shape. The rotors needed changing due to being warped. I have completely bleed the system and checked all lines, master cylinder, brake cylinders and calipers. The only way that I have read to reset the computer is to disconnect the battery or go to a dodge dealer. Is that right? I have also seen a post on changing the ABS controller. I don't plan to spend $500 unless I have to on it. The brakes work fine...most of the time...they do tend to be touchy once and a while.

the light switch is probably bad. yea try the reset and see if they come back.
Disconnect NEG Battery Terminal
Turn the ignition key to the START position and hold for 15-20 seconds
Release key (OFF) and reconnect the battery

Damn, makes me kinda worried about my recent 03 purchase. I hope they worked out all the bugs by that time!

Good luck in the future!

This sounds stupid but try it anyway dissconnect your battery for a min or two I have never really seen that problem with dodge but I have seen many chevs that had a problem with false readings that corrected themselves when you dissconected and reconnected the battery. worth a try anyway might just be a glitch instead of a problem.

sounds to me like a bigger problem than resetting your computer.

what do you mean by 'no lights'? no h eadlights? no interior lights? no dash lights? no brake lights? all of the above? have you checked the aplicable fuses for the affected systems? checked for relays that could be bad if its the headlights/foglights that are out?

Replace the speed senor on the tranny and rear differential, will kill the abs/parking brake lights.
