Default ABS Gone Crazy

Hi,
The ABS in my 2001 Durango R/T 5.9L 4WD 4WABS operates for no reason.
On a dry road, no excess speed, no panic stop, the ABS will operate, causing the stopping distance
to double. No ABS light on panel and it only does it intermitantly. Any help will be GREATLY
appreciated !!

I'm thinking the ABS sensor on the rear axel housing. But the true thing to do is go to the dealer for ABS troubles. You can try to replace the sensor on the housing or other possible problems could include the master cylinder, other ABS sensors or the ABS module it's self. Bad fluid or and air bubble in the system could be at fault.

Questions I would ask you would be:

Has anyone worked on the truck? Fluid, Pads, sensors, wheels, or anything else?

I'm leaning toward the speed sensor personally.

There are a lot of possibilities. Most likely a sensor located on the top of the axel housing.

Thats an idea thats worth exploring but most issues can be fixed by replacing the ABS sensor on the axel.
