RE: 2002 Durango sxt tranny problems
You have gear ratio errors in 1st,3rd and 4th gears. Try this, stick the shifter lever in 2nd and drive. what this does is to allow the trans to only shift in 1st and 2nd gear. If that is okay, then put the shifter into drive. If the trans goes into limp-in. Then you may have one of two problems. 1st the clutches maybe burnt or the plate on the valve body has broken.

Thanks for the info. I took it to the local dodge dealer where a friend work, he hooked a DRB 3 to it and everything looked good except the line pressure, it was only running at 54psi and it is supposed to be 120psi, so I replaced the filter and the line filter, now its doing better but still not right, its kicking in and out of gear on its own, how much fluid should I put in it after changing both filters?

He did all that, He said that the clutches looked good and so did the cvi, the only thing that didn't look good was the line pressure, could this still be the plate maybe cracked, I'm going to pull the pan back off this weekend and check the plate, where could i find a plate if it is the problem?

RE: 2002 Durango sxt tranny problems
call me crazy, but my dodge buddy (who works in dealership) changed my fluid and filter in tranny and took it for a drive and he was showing me the readings of line pressure while drivingyours seem very very high for the 545rfe tranny (which you should have since it is a 2002) I have the same truck and tranny and my pressure it not as high like your numbers and shifts real smooth
he says 9.9 times out of ten after change of fluid and the line pressure at idle is between 20 to 25 psi the tranny is running perfect
maybe you should look at the reading at idle and go from there
or maybe your buddy thinks you have the 45rfe tranny which is completly different beast altogether and he has his numbers for each mixed up?
