Need Help With Tire Size - Please
Hi guys,
On my newly purchased 2002 Durango SLT, I'm thinking about getting bigger tires. Right Now I have tires the size of 255/65/r16. I guess that means my stock rim/wheel is 16"?? i checked tirerack.com and they said I would be able to put on tires the size of 275/45/sr20.
Now my question is will 275/45/sr20 tires fit on my 16" stock rims/wheels?

Please let me know. Right now my tires are stock and I want to know the biggest tires I can get while keeping the same 16" rim/wheel. Thank you guys in advance.

The first number(275) is MMs across the tread, the second number(45) is the percentage of the width across, on the sidewall. The last number(20) is rim size.
So no, a 20 inch tire will not work with a 16 inch rim.
265/70/16s were stock on Durangos though, if you want a little bigger.. or you can probably go bigger than that.

Thanks for the replies guys. So to be on the safe side, the last number on the tire should read 16, right?
My main reason for changing to bigger tires is because I plan on getting a 3" body lift and I want to know what are the tallest/biggest tires I could put on the factory rims.
OneBadKota, what's the biggest I could go safely, without having any problems?

with no rubbing at all, largerst would be stock size i believe... 31 x 10.5 x 16
slight rubbing at stock height 32 x 10.5 x16... that is rubbing at full lock, and flex...
remember that larger tires hurts city driving mpg
