slow!!!
I put colder spark plugs in, drop in K&N Filter, 14" Magnaflow muffler, removed the clutch fan and swapped to synthetic oil(Not that it adds power, but keeps the motor cleaner)
and mine seems to get up and go quite well. Mine is the 4.7 motor.

Congrats on the purchase. You will find that your Durango is capable of doing many things that your Mustang could not. That being said, your Durango is not a sports car, and although there are some simple things you can do to make minor changes, it will take big bucks to make any big changes.
Even after that, all you will have is an SUV that goes faster, but will not stop/handle any better unless you spend money there also.
The two things we also gained when we bought our D's along with everything else are extra pounds and poor aerodynamics.
Your D weighs around 4800 pounds, and the wind resistance of that large profile dioes not slice the wind well at all.
It might help if you could clarify on what types of changes you are looking to make, instead of simply "feeling faster"
Then, folks here can make more acccurate recommendations for you.

i know that it won't ever be like my old mustangs but i would like it to have a little better trottle response and a little more power, just seems underpowered with the 4.7 right now
No clue on your last question. Possibly get a build sheet from the Dodge dealer. with the 4.7 you can go to a junkyard and yank a throttle body off of a 5.2/5.9 and get some cheap gains (vs buying a bored out throttle body), throw aperformance cam/s in there (I think the 4.7 is DOHC), sc/turbo it. How much money are you looking to spend and how much mechanical experience do you havebecause I'm reaching for the sky here.

The 4.7 is a 287 ci SOHC (single overhead cam) engine.
For inexpensive mods, you can add better intake system. Some folks have swappedthrottle bodies.
Then, there are performance chips/tuners in the $300-500 dollar range that will help some, but you will have to run premium fuel 24/7 to get the max benefit there.
Some folks have upgraded the cams and intake, and seen some nice gains but this is a $600-1500 idea depending on if you DIY, or have it done.
If your D is 2wd, you can swap in a shorter rear end gear and pick up some acceleration at the expense of mileage for a decent price, but if you have 4x4 it doubles the cost and can run as much as $2k.
