Default Recall Issues

I recently purchased a 2002 Durango. A few weeks ago I noticed that it can shift out of park without the key in the ignition or the brake being pressed. I did some research on it and there happens to be a recall for that exact thing. So I called a local Dodge dealer and they told me my vin is not under that recall. I then called Dodge customer service and they told me they will not cover it because my vin does not fall under the recall.

Is there anything I can do to get them to cover it. It is the EXACT thing they havea recall out for so obviously this is why I am having the problems. This is my first dodge vehicle I have owned and after speaking with their customer service dept I am not that happy with them.

Thanks for any advice

Fight them and use the e-brake until it's resolved.

My 03 D started this today (being able to shift out of Park without the brake) I called the Stealership and they said theres No Such recall. They told me to bring it in next week and they will look at it under warranty.

There is a recall about it but it is for 01-02's. Here is a link about it off this forum https://dodgeforum.com/m_1077927/mpa...tm.htm#1078430

The recall is a G28, for 2001 and 2002 dodge ram vans, durango, dakota and 1500 ram trucks. If anyone wants a copy of the recall notice, just send a pm. Leonard

speaking of recalls

there was a dodge run site that you could type your vin# and it would tell you if it had any outstanding recalls, I remember it being on this site but cannot find anyone know off the top of there head?

print it off and bring to your dealer and show according to dodge this, this and this have not been performed
