i will start with the fact that this is a great thread! I'm wondering if anyone has bypassed the rear axle sensor?maybe trick the pcm some how? i have a 2000' that is non ABS. last year i swapped out the 360 gas engine for a v10 witch is a 1998' and does have abs on rear axle.had shifting probs right from the start. dont drive it very often to worry about it but now the issue has gotten worse. i really dont want to swap axles if i can help it. any help would be awesome!

you cant bypass the rear axle sensor because it is part of the speedometer control circuit

Yes there are 2 speed sensors but I did not think they were directly related. The one on the tranny is used with engine control and the one on the rear axle was primarily the braking (ABS) system.

When I got my P0720 code it was the tranny sensor. Ithought the rear axle sensor was most common when triggering the ABS/Brake lights. Didn't think it was related to 0720.

My 2 cents. If I'm wrong I'm sorry and I welcome the correction.
I also have a 06 awd durango 5.7. Got the p0720 &p0700. It went in limp mode and no more over drive. Before the mil it start a hard shift when i came to a stop at about 25 mph. A thump downshift. Only when i drive for a while and when slow down from high speeds. I replace output shaft sensor but problem still there. Still same codes. Any ideal?
