I have a 2001 Durango WITHOUT the factory tow package. I am about to install a Reese hitch, wiring harness, and brake controller....

Where can I hook up the Brake controller "brake signal wire" Or whatever it is called... I look above the brake pedal and there is a plug that has 6 or 7 wires... is it one of those? Anyone know what one ? Or possibly an easier way to install it ?

It should be the White/Tan wire at the brake light switch. Easy to get with a t tap.

 

If you have not purchased the equipment yet i would recommend getting a harness adapter so you wont have to deal with tapping etc. Thats me though, heres a quick example of what i mean. http://www.truckspring.com/productin...61&affid=1

 

White/Tan wire... Got it ! That is all I needed to know ... I guess that makes sense since the brake light wires behind the tail lights are also white/tan.

Simple volt meter test will tell you which one it is also. Just find the one that changes when you press the brake pedal.



I never found one for the 00 Durango that didn't have a stock tow package on it.
