upper radiator hose

Default upper radiator hose

i have a big leak in my upper radiator hose and im going to just replace it along with the thermostat . i was wondering is the thermostat located where the upper hose connects to the engine or the lower hose?

The upper. Where the upper hose connects to the engine.
Make sure the new T-stat gets but into the engine the same way it came out. Spring down.

Also, I always test my new T-stat before installing it in hot water on the stove with a thermometer and make sure it opens at the right temp. I have had bad brand new T-stats before that are no good.

Wizard;

Since you have the 4.7 liter, your T stat is at the engine end of the bottom hose. There are two nuts that hold on a plastic housing to the engine. Be careful though as those two bolts are knownto break easily. I would suggest soaking them good with some PB Blaster or WD 40 and let it sit overnight before you tackle the job.
