Default Durango Info

Hey i was wondering if someone could tell me about some info on a durango. Im thinkin about selling my 97 acura 2.5 TL and getting a 01 Durango. I was wanting to know if it is a reliable car and wont have many problems with it. The one I'm looking at is a 01 and it has around 110,000 miles on it. Just wondering if its a good choice.

I have an 01 myself, so I will chime in for you.

The Durangos can be very reliable carsif they have been properly cared for, and like any vehicle a real pain if the have not. You are going to see a heck of a difference in fuel economy, so if you drive a lot be prepared for 12-14 around town, and 16-18 on the hwy.

There are many Durangos with well over 100k, and some with over 200k still going strong. Hopefully the previous owner can show that all the required servicing has been done.

Make sure you pay close attention to the heating/cooling system when you test drive. Rotate the selector **** that routes the air between floor, dash, and defrost through all its settings to be sure its working 100%.

At 110k, it should have had its cooling system serviced at least three times as well as the tranny. The front and rear differentials are specd at 15 k, but if you don't tow much or at all they can be 30k also. Spark plugs are rated at 30k, so yours should be on its 4th set at 110k.

Overall I have had very good luck with mine, only having to replace the aux coolant pump a ways back.I am at 68k and change, so as you can see I don't drive it too much, nor do I travel off road.
