Default Check engine light

My Durango wouldn't start after a very rainy day( it has done this before) except this time when it finally started. The check engine light came on. It seems to be running fine, I just don't understand why the light came on? Has anyone had similar problems? Thanks!

What year Durango?

2000+ you can turn the ignition to the on, off, on, off, on position and see codes in the odometer box.

If older, have someone scan it to find what the problem is.

If you get the codes, I can tell you what it is.

Hope this helps.

If it's when it rains, it sounds to me some type of moisture could be getting into the Distributor Cap causing it not to want to start..

Also if you are in a AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts market area, they will read the codes FREE, just remember askthem for a print out before they clear them out of the scan tool reader. Once they clear them the codes are lost until the problem that caused the code returns.

Does your CEL light need to be on to check codes? Mine came on recently then turned off shortly after.
