Default Help with mirror defrosters

I have a 2000 Durango SLT that I am having a problem with the outside mirror defrosters. The way I understand system operation is that when I turn on the rear window defrost, it also turns on the mirror defrosters. But as of right now, my rear window defrost works but BOTH my outside mirrors will not defrost. Checked the fuses, all good. Any suggestions as to where I should look next to try and fix it? I just can't believe that both mirrors would go bad at the same time. Thanks.

I had a problem with my 99 where one mirror stoped defrosting. The glass had droped out of the mirror when it got hit with something and although the glass didnt look borken, it was. If both mirrors are failing at the same time i would check the switch. See if you can find one at a junkyard it wouldnt be more then a few bucks. be carefull when pulling the center pannel from the dash. It has a screw on each side covered by its neighboring pannels.

I really don't think it is a switch if the rear window defroster is working.
We had the problem with the right mirror not defrosting when it was new. Took it in to the dealer was told it was fixed and seemed to be. Now it doesn't work any longer. I think there may be a fuse some place hidden and not in the owners manual, only the service manual. GM does that a lot, hides a fuse panal and not putting it in owners manual only the service manual.

Use a test light to test the fuses and see if any are blowen. Touch one side of the fuse on the top at the same time touch the other side.
If you look close at the fuse top you will see the two dots of the legs. Test lights are quite cheap and easy to use. If you want to spend more money buy a (DVM) digital volt meter. Some of those you can get for under $10.00 but the wires are usally to short and won't last.
